Note: Only Fold Plus users can add American Express cards on Fold. To upgrade, please follow the instructions in the app or drop an email to upgrade@fold.money.
This guide will help you set up transaction alerts and balance updates for your American Express credit cards. Both of these settings must be enabled to successfully track your Amex credit card transactions in Fold.
⚠️ Important: Both Transaction Alerts and Balance Updates are required for Fold to track your Amex credit card spending accurately. Without these enabled, your transactions may not sync properly.
Once enabled, you'll receive:
- Real-time SMS and email notifications for all card transactions
- Regular balance updates to keep your Fold dashboard current
The setup process takes about 5 minutes, and alerts will begin within 1-2 business days.
Step 1: Login here using your Amex Account
Step 2: Once Logged In, Go to Account Management
Step 3: Once in Account Management section scroll to the bottom, click on ‘Stay connected with email/SMS alerts, or on Mobile expand the Communication & Online Statement section to see this option.
Step 4: Enable Balance Update and ensure Mandatory Transaction Alerts are set for both Email and SMS.
Accept the Terms & Conditions and Tap on Submit. You will start receiving alerts in 1-2 business days.
Once the setup is done and you start getting above emails, you can onboard your Amex cards to Fold.
Note: If the email on record with Amex is other than Gmail or is different from the email linked on Fold, you may have to set-up auto-forwarding of such emails to the email linked on Fold. To set-up auto-forwarding, you can follow the guides below.
